Quran: [17:36] "You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them."

Quran: [49:12] "O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. 1. Question from visitors on Sunday 17 June 2012 at 15h54

Is it wrong if we decline the idea of praying through the Awliya, and however accept the existence and respect the Awliya ?

Does it decrease one's imaan then? Please clarify :s

Our Answer

In Islam we worship Allah alone. It is prohibited to associate anyone or anything with Allah. Those who have reached the status of Awliya are closer to Allah, but they still depend on Allah's Mercy. We, as Muslim should have great respect and love for the Awliyas. Any form of DISRESPECT towards Awliyas is considered as a serious sin in Islam. When it comes to DUA, we should always remember them in our prayers and follow their footsteps because they are the right model to follow after our beloved Prophet SAW.

7. Question from visitors Monday 18 June 2012 at 15h08

I have seen your Quran site indeed it is very interesting and very knowledgeable for the youth of today. I would like to have an advice on Engagement in Islam

Our Answer

Assalamualaikum.

First of all please do not call me Sir, just simply Aleem.

JazakAllah for your kind & sweet words.

Really your words touch me.

I am very proud to learn that you are using Quran.mu as a reference to ask advice specially regarding Engagement in Islam.

Please try to be a bit more precise with your question.

"Engagement in Islam" do you mean intention love or to marry someone (to get married) ?

JazakAllah

Question Continue

Thank you very much for your reply indeed it will be a great pleasure to communicate with you in the future what i mean for engagement is that one of my daughter

Has got a proposal from a boy and the family has ask us to do an engagement.

Plz note that in my family engagement does not exist.

So I would like to know if it is permissible .

Our Answer

The answer is YES.

But there conditions attached to that.

After the couple have agreed to go for Nikah, it is called an Engagement, but the kind of engagement that people practice in our country Mauritius where the boy and the girl meet in Privacy, go out on their own, meet each other in public places and communicate freely with some kind of physical activities are completely HARAM in Islam.

The Engaged Couple should never meet each other in the absence of their parents

what is the reason behind the fact that the man pays the woman mahr (dowry) for marriage?

Mahr is a recognition in advance for those deeds mentioned.

10. Question from visitors on Tuesday 19 June at 19h59 (Very Important Question)

Aslm. i was reading the part on black magic...and i saw a statement saying that the prophet (SWA) said,\"a part of his ummah dies because of evil eye.\" But Death is in ALLAH\'s hand alone, so how can it be said that evil eye can took the life of some people. In case i\'ve misunderstood, i would like to have an explanation to clear my doubts. Thanking you in anticipation

Our Answer

Dear Sister in Islam,

WaAlaikumussalaam,

Your question is a difficult one, but the answer is even more difficult. May Allah help us all to understand and practice His deen correctlyAmeen

The day, time and place of our death are no doubt in the hand of Almighty Allah. He is the only one Who gives life and death. Death of many is caused by illnesses, diseases and other reasons. Infact the evil eye does not kill anyone; it is only a cause for the death of a person.

We are taught in Islam to say: MaashaAllah when we see a wonderful thing, we appreciate something or someone. The reason to say: MaashaAllah is to protect the person we are appreciating from the evil that lies in ourselves and causes harm to others.

A person possesses both good and bad qualities. Allah created us this way, with the ability to make a choice between what is good and what is bad. This freewill differentiates humans from angels.

Angels execute Allahs commands and have no freewill; therefore they do not make choices like man. Whereas human beings are free to decide, to accept, to reject and to choose.

Man is created as such because his life is a test and this is evident in Surah Al-Mulk:

67:1 Blessed be He in Whose hands is Dominion; and He over all things hath Power;-

67:1 Blessed is He (Allah) in Whose hand is the Sovereignty, and He is Able to do all things.

67:2 He (Allah) Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving;-

67:2 ( Allah) Who hath created life and death that He may try you, which of you is best in conduct; and He is the Mighty, Forgiving,)

Therefore, if a person is not given the freewill, his life will never be a test as mentioned in the verses above.

It is the duty of every individual Muslim to act with responsibility and protect others from the evils that lie within him.

JazakAllah

Aleem Domun.

ASLM... i saw one of your answers about eyebrows...well i read a book and it said in it that removal of eyebrows is permissible if you are doing it to make urself beautiful for your husband...and in another context it said that you can remove facial hairs depending on your intentions....i mean for whom you are doing it...it said you may do it to make yourself beautiful for your parent if unmarried or your brothers and sisters... JAZAAKALLAH

Our Answer

WaAlaikumussalaam,

I appreciated you visit Quran.mu and the way you write your question.

You have the rights for make up as long as you do not modify the creation of Allah. You cannot have the intention to please your husband by means that are haram in Islam.

Hadith Sahih Muslim : Book 024, Number 5301:

http://www.quran.mu/sahih-muslim-the-book-pertaining-to-clothes-and-decoration-kitab-al-libas-wal-zinah.html#24:5301

'Abdullah reported that Allah had cursed those women who tattooed and who have themselves tattooed, those who pluck hair from their faces and those who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created. This news reached a woman of the tribe of Asad who was called Umm Ya'qub and she used to recite the Holy Qur'an. She came to him and said: What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattooed and those women who have themselves tattooed, the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created? Thereupon 'Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Qur'an from cover to cover, but I did not find that in it. whereupon he said: If you had read (thoroughly) you would have definitely found this in that (as) Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has said:" What Allah's Messenger brings for you accept that. and what he has forbidden you. refrain from that." That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of 'Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything. whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her, I would have never slept with her in the bed.

JazakAllah

13. Question from visitors on Tuesday 19 June at 20h42

sometime when my husband want to make love to me i refuse as i feel tired is it a sin is this an excuse for my husband

to have affair outside the home

Our Answer

If you are tired you should inform your husband in advance.

But you as a wife you should always be ready and WELL PREPARED to respond to the sexual needs of your husband, whether it is in the day or in the night.

As for the Second part of your question.

You should be aware that if a man is Hungry and there is no food for him at home, he will definitely look for food somewhere else.

If in case you often feel tired, then I will advice your husband to go for a second Nikah, instead of having extra marital affair which is called Zina in Islam.
