In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:1 (Y. Ali) When the Event inevitable cometh to pass,

56:1 (Picktall) When the event befalleth.


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:2 (Y. Ali) Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming.

56:2 (Picktall) There is no denying that it will befall


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:3 (Y. Ali) (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt;

56:3 (Picktall) Abasing (some), exalting (others);


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:4 (Y. Ali) When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,

56:4 (Picktall) When the earth is shaken with a shock


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:5 (Y. Ali) And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms,

56:5 (Picktall) And the hills are ground to powder

56:6 (Y. Ali) Becoming dust scattered abroad,

56:6 (Picktall) So that they become a scattered dust,

56:7 (Y. Ali) And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.

56:8 (Y. Ali) Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

56:8 (Picktall) (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand?

56:9 (Y. Ali) And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

56:9 (Picktall) And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand?

56:10 (Y. Ali) And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).

56:10 (Picktall) And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race:

56:11 (Y. Ali) These will be those Nearest to Allah.

56:11 (Picktall) Those are they who will be brought nigh

56:12 (Y. Ali) In Gardens of Bliss:

56:17 (Y. Ali) Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),

56:17 (Picktall) There wait on them immortal youths

56:18 (Y. Ali) With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:

56:18 (Picktall) With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring

56:19 (Y. Ali) No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:

56:19 (Picktall) Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness,

56:20 (Y. Ali) And with fruits, any that they may select:

56:20 (Picktall) And fruit that they prefer

56:21 (Y. Ali) And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.

56:22 (Y. Ali) And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-

56:22 (Picktall) And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes,

56:23 (Y. Ali) Like unto Pearls well-guarded.

56:23 (Picktall) Like unto hidden pearls,

56:24 (Y. Ali) A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).

56:24 (Picktall) Reward for what they used do.


Surah Al Waqiah

56:25 (Y. Ali) Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-

56:25 (Picktall) There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination


Surah Al Waqiah

56:26 (Y. Ali) Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".

56:26 (Picktall) (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace.

56:27 (Y. Ali) The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

56:27 (Picktall) And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand?

56:28 (Y. Ali) (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,

56:28 (Picktall) Among thornless lote tree

56:29 (Y. Ali) Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,-

56:29 (Picktall) And clustered plantains,

56:30 (Y. Ali) In shade long-extended,

56:30 (Picktall) And spreading shade,

56:31 (Y. Ali) By water flowing constantly,

56:31 (Picktall) And water gushing,

56:32 (Y. Ali) And fruit in abundance.

56:32 (Picktall) And fruit in plenary

56:33 (Y. Ali) Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden,

56:33 (Picktall) Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden,

56:34 (Y. Ali) And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high.

56:34 (Picktall) And raised couches,

56:35 (Y. Ali) We have created (their Companions) of special creation.

56:35 (Picktall) Lo! We have created them a (new) creation

56:36 (Y. Ali) And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), -

56:36 (Picktall) And made them virgins

56:37 (Y. Ali) Beloved (by nature), equal in age,-

56:38 (Y. Ali) For the Companions of the Right Hand.

56:39 (Y. Ali) A (goodly) number from those of old,

56:41 (Y. Ali) The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

56:41 (Picktall) And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand?

56:42 (Y. Ali) (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water,

56:42 (Picktall) In scorching wind and scalding water

56:43 (Y. Ali) And in the shades of Black Smoke:

56:43 (Picktall) And shadow of black smoke,


Surah Al Waqiah

56:44 (Y. Ali) Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please:

56:44 (Picktall) Neither cool nor refreshing.


Surah Al Waqiah

56:45 (Y. Ali) For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury),

56:45 (Picktall) Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury


Surah Al Waqiah

56:46 (Y. Ali) And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme!

56:46 (Picktall) And used to persist in the awful sin.


Surah Al Waqiah

56:47 (Y. Ali) And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?-

56:47 (Picktall) And they used to say: When we are dead and have come dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again,

56:48 (Y. Ali) "(We) and our fathers of old?"

56:48 (Picktall) And also our forefathers?


Surah Al Waqiah

56:49 (Y. Ali) Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times,

56:49 (Picktall) Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time

56:50 (Y. Ali) "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known.

56:50 (Picktall) Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day.


Surah Al Waqiah

56:51 (Y. Ali) "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!-

56:51 (Picktall) Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers,

56:52 (Y. Ali) "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum.

56:52 (Picktall) Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum

56:53 (Y. Ali) "Then will ye fill your insides therewith,

56:53 (Picktall) And will fill your bellies therewith;

56:54 (Y. Ali) "And drink Boiling Water on top of it:

56:54 (Picktall) And thereon ye will drink of boiling water,

56:55 (Y. Ali) "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!"

56:55 (Picktall) Drinking even as the camel drinketh.


Surah Al Waqiah

56:56 (Y. Ali) Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital!

56:56 (Picktall) This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment

56:57 (Y. Ali) It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth?

56:57 (Picktall) We created you. Will ye then admit the truth?


Surah Al Waqiah

56:58 (Y. Ali) Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,-

56:58 (Picktall) Have ye seen that which ye emit?


Surah Al Waqiah

56:59 (Y. Ali) Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators?

56:59 (Picktall) Do ye create it or are We the creator?


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:60 (Y. Ali) We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated

56:60 (Picktall) We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun,


Surah Al Waqiah

56:61 (Y. Ali) from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not.

56:61 (Picktall) That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not.


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:62 (Y. Ali) And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises?

56:62 (Picktall) And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect?


Surah Al Waqiah

56:63 (Y. Ali) See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground?

56:63 (Picktall) Have ye seen that which ye cultivate?


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:64 (Y. Ali) Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause?

56:64 (Picktall) Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer?


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:65 (Y. Ali) Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment,

56:65 (Picktall) If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim:

56:66 (Y. Ali) (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing):

56:66 (Picktall) Lo! we are laden with debt!


Surah Al Waqiah

56:67 (Y. Ali) "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)"

56:67 (Picktall) Nay, but we are deprived!


Surah Al Waqiah

56:68 (Y. Ali) See ye the water which ye drink?

56:68 (Picktall) Have ye observed the water which ye drink?


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:69 (Y. Ali) Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We?

56:69 (Picktall) Is it ye who shed it from the rain cloud, or are We the shedder?


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:70 (Y. Ali) Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks?

56:70 (Picktall) If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why, then, give ye not thanks?


Surah Al Waqiah

56:71 (Y. Ali) See ye the Fire which ye kindle?

56:71 (Picktall) Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out;


Surah Al Waqiah

56:72 (Y. Ali) Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it?

56:72 (Picktall) Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower?


Surah Al Waqiah

Translations

56:73 (Y. Ali) We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts.

56:73 (Picktall) We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness.


Surah Al Waqiah

56:74 (Y. Ali) Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme!

56:74 (Picktall) Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.

56:75 (Y. Ali) Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,-

56:75 (Picktall) Nay, I swear by the places of the stars

56:76 (Y. Ali) And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,-

56:76 (Picktall) And lo! that verily is a tremendous oath, if ye but knew

56:77 (Y. Ali) That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,

56:77 (Picktall) That (this) is indeed a noble Qur'an

56:78 (Y. Ali) In Book well-guarded,

56:78 (Picktall) In a Book kept hidden

56:79 (Y. Ali) Which none shall touch but those who are clean:

56:79 (Picktall) Which none toucheth save the purified,

56:80 (Y. Ali) A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

56:80 (Picktall) A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

56:81 (Y. Ali) Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem?

56:81 (Picktall) Is it this Statement that ye scorn,

56:82 (Y. Ali) And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false?

56:82 (Picktall) And make denial thereof your livelihood?

56:83 (Y. Ali) Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-

56:83 (Picktall) Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying)


Surah Al Waqiah

56:84 (Y. Ali) And ye the while (sit) looking on,-

56:84 (Picktall) And ye are at that moment looking


Surah Al Waqiah

56:85 (Y. Ali) But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,-

56:85 (Picktall) And We are nearer unto him than ye are, but ye see not

56:86 (Y. Ali) Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,-

56:86 (Picktall) Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us),

56:87 (Y. Ali) Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)?

56:87 (Picktall) Do ye not force it back, if ye are truthful?

56:88 (Y. Ali) Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah,

56:88 (Picktall) Thus if he is of those brought nigh,

56:89 (Y. Ali) (There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights.

56:89 (Picktall) Then breath of life, and plenty, and a Garden of delight

56:92 (Y. Ali) And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong,

56:93 (Y. Ali) For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water.

56:93 (Picktall) Then the welcome will be boiling water

56:94 (Y. Ali) And burning in Hell-Fire.

56:94 (Picktall) And roasting at hell fire.

56:95 (Y. Ali) Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly.

56:95 (Picktall) Lo! this is certain truth.

56:96 (Y. Ali) So celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme.

56:96 (Picktall) Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.
