Quran: [17:36] "You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them."
Quran: [49:12] "O ye who believe! Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin: And spy not on each other behind their backs. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, ye would abhor it...But fear Allah. For Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful."

What are the symptoms and how do we prevent ourselves from being affected?
How to protect yourself from evil “eye”, sihr, jadoo (magic) jealousy and other evils in Islam.
The harmful effects of evil eye (al-ain), sihr (magic), jealousy, and other such ailments are clearly explained in our DeenIslam. Their damaging effects are frequently referred to both in the Quran and the hadiths of the prophet (swa). It is very unfortunate that we do not pay enough attention to these issues and more often we are unaware that we are affected by such harmful evils. Consequently, we continue the journey of our lives with these harmful effects.
The saying of the Prophet (saw) in this matter is very clear that “a certain portion of his ummah dies because of the effects of the evil eye.”
Scholars of different school of thought have no disagreement in the harm that these evils cause to man. Their assistance is often sought by members of their congregation.
68:51 (Y. Ali) And the Unbelievers would almost trip thee up with their eyes when they hear the Message; and they say: "Surely he is possessed!"
68:51 (Picktall) And lo! those who disbelieve would fain disconcert thee with their eyes when they bear the Reminder, and they say: Lo! he is indeed mad;
Allah and His Prophet (saw) have taught us how to cure ourselves from these evils. We are also taught the specific verses and duas in order to treat ourselves properly and such a treatment is called Ruqyah رُقْيَة. Allah says in the Quran: “And We send down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe…” [Quran 17:82]
17:82 (Y. Ali) We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.
17:82 (Picktall) And We reveal of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy for believers though it increase the evil-doers in naught save ruin.
Unfortunately, many Muslims today either don’t make use of such protection from the Quran or get involved in the use of lucky charms and amulets, the use of which are considered Shirk [associating others with Allah] and thus push a person outside the boundaries of Islam. We should understand that carrying amulets and charms for the purpose of protecting oneself against the evil eye and witchcraft or magic is completely forbidden in Islam. The prophet said, “Whoever wears an amulet has associated others with Allah (shirk).” [Narrated by Ahmad (16781). It is also narrated that ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: “Whoever wears an amulet, may Allah never fulfill his wish and whoever wears a seashell, may Allah never protect him from what he fears.” [Hadith classed as hasan by al-Arna’oot in his commentary on al-Musnad.]
It is our duty as members of DeenIslam to practice the authentic teachings of Quran and Hadiths. We have to make sure that we are using the words of Quran and Duas mentioned in the authentic hadiths to treat ourselves or others from the evils of the eye, magic and other such practices.
The following verses and duas are very effective in the treatment of those affected by evil eye, magic, black magic, witchcraft, jealousy and other practices.
It is our religious obligation to seek Allah’s protection in all areas of our life because in reality, we may never know what part of our lives is being damaged by the effects of the evil eye and sihr. Let us ensure that we make these Duas part of our daily lives to protect or treat ourselves and others from all such evil effects as the prophet instructed us.
You will find below some of the Quranic verses and Dua’s that can be used for Ruqya, Practice them daily and you will enjoy the blessings of Allah InshaAllah:
